How To Install .Net Framework 3.5 (includes 2.0 and 3.0) Offline In Windows 8 and 8.1 Without Internet Connection

Now-a-days it is common that all the third-party software requires Microsoft .Net Framework installed on system. The problem is that different software requires different versions of installed .Net Framework. Actually, windows 8 and 8.1 are available with latest version .Net Framework 4.5. Most software requires version 3.5 to run.

This problem arises on every fresh Windows 8/8.1 install. If you are using Windows 8 or 8.1, you might be facing problems running applications which require .Net Framework 3.5. As windows 8 or 8.1 doesn’t come up with installed .Net Framework 3.5. So whenever you are trying to launch a program, it comes up with following message:-

AN APP ON YOUR PC NEEDS THE FOLLOWING WINDOWS FEATURE:

.NET FRAMEWORK 3.5 (INCLUDES .NET 2.0 AND 3.0)

This dialogue box has two buttons. One ask to connect to internet and download the required files and other one to skip the installation and go on.

It is quite foolishness to connect to internet and download required files because windows 8 or 8.1 setup itself contains .Net Framework version 3.5 but doesn’t install it.

You can do that with the help of a single command. All you need to have an Windows 8/8.1 bootable DVD drive, USB drive or Memory card with you.

Or if you have ISO image of windows setup saved in your hard disk, just mount it to a separate disk drive using PowerISO or 7-zip, because then it’ll behave like a separate virtual drive.

Now without discussing more, let move to solution:-

1. Insert the DVD/USB/Memory Card into computer or mount the ISO image to virtual drive by clicking on ISO image and selecting MOUNT.

2. Now open Command Prompt as Administrator as mentioned here and then provide following command:

Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:K:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

 

3. Here “K:” represents the DVD/USB/Memory Card drive letter which contains the windows setup. Replace it with the exact letter of your drive. Pay Attention towards it. If you extracted Windows 8 setup files in a directory, replace F:\sources\sxs with the correct path.

4. As soon as you applied the command and hit Enter, process will begin to install .Net Framework 3.5.

It might take few minutes, so keep calm and do other task.
